Squarespace help and edits, Nottingham and beyond.

Content updates, templates that will not budge, gallery and booking blocks behaving oddly, and the SEO fields that have been blank since launch. Send me the link and tell me what you want changing.

Tell me what needs doing

Sounds familiar?

Squarespace is lovely to look at and occasionally stubborn to change.

Most of the time the thing you want is perfectly possible. It just lives somewhere unexpected, or it needs a few lines of custom code the template does not offer you.

The template will not do it

You can picture exactly what you want, and Squarespace politely refuses to put it there.

Somebody gave you custom code

And you have no idea where it goes, or you pasted it in and something else moved.

The SEO fields are blank

Every page carrying the same description, or none at all, since the day it launched.

Gallery and booking blocks misbehaving

Fine on your laptop, odd on a phone, and different again on a tablet.

Spacing that goes wrong on mobile

Sections that sit beautifully on desktop and squash together the moment you pick up your phone.

You’re moving in or out

From Wix, from WordPress, or off Squarespace altogether, without losing what you’ve built.

What I actually do on Squarespace

Most Squarespace jobs are about making it look right rather than making it work. Both are fine, and I’ll tell you which yours is.

  • Content updates. New pages, new sections, changed text and photos, and the things that have been out of date since spring.
  • Custom code. The small bits of CSS that get the template to do what you actually wanted, put in the right place.
  • Mobile spacing. Going through the phone view properly instead of hoping it follows the desktop one.
  • Galleries, bookings and shops. Setting them up so they look like the rest of the site rather than bolted on.
  • The SEO fields. Page titles, descriptions, headings and alt text, filled in properly instead of left blank.
  • Moving in or out. Migrations either way, with the old addresses redirected so nobody lands on a dead page.
  • Speed. Usually oversized images, same as everywhere else.

Nottingham, and everywhere else

I’m in Nottingham, so a lot of my Squarespace work is for businesses around Nottinghamshire, Leicester, Loughborough, Melton Mowbray and Derby. Studios, photographers, therapists, a fair few cafes.

But none of this needs me to be nearby. I’ve edited Squarespace sites for people I’ve never met and it makes no difference at all. So if you’re further afield and you like the sound of how I work, get in touch anyway.

Why not just use the Squarespace forum?

Sometimes that is the right option. The forum is full of helpful people, and if your question is a common one somebody has already answered it properly.

The trouble is what you usually find. A block of custom CSS from 2021 that half works on the current version, three replies arguing about it, and no way of knowing which one applies to your template. Then you paste it in and something else moves.

I’ll work out what actually applies to your site, put it where it belongs, and check it on a phone before I call it finished.

How it works

Three steps, and no project plan required.

  1. You tell me what’s wrongDrop me an email. A sentence is plenty, and a screenshot is a bonus. You don’t need to know the technical words for it.
  2. I tell you what it takesWhat I’d do, what it costs, and how long. If it’s quick I’ll say so rather than dressing it up into a project.
  3. I do it and you check itYou see it before it goes live. If it isn’t right, I fix it.

You get me, not an account manager and not a ticket number. And if your site also needs help getting found rather than just tidying up, that’s what the AI visibility work is for. The two pair up nicely, but neither needs the other.

Questions I get asked

Can someone edit my Squarespace site for me?

Yes. Send me the link and a sentence about what you want changed, and I’ll tell you what it takes before you commit to anything. Squarespace lets you add me as a contributor, so you never need to share your password.

How do I add custom CSS to Squarespace?

It goes in the Custom CSS panel under Website Tools, and it applies across the whole site. Code aimed at one page needs to be targeted properly, which is the bit that catches people out and makes something else move.

Why does my Squarespace site look different on mobile?

Squarespace reflows your sections rather than keeping a separate mobile layout, so spacing that looks right on a wide screen often bunches up on a phone. It needs checking and adjusting on its own.

Where do I add the SEO description in Squarespace?

Each page has an SEO panel in its page settings for the title and description, and there is a separate site-wide section for defaults. On most sites I look at, both have been left as they came.

Can I move my Squarespace site to WordPress?

Yes, and it is a reasonable thing to want if you have outgrown the template. It needs the content moved, the design rebuilt, and the old addresses redirected so nothing lands on a dead page. I’ll tell you honestly whether it is worth the disruption.

How much does Squarespace help cost?

It is priced per job, because a text change and a custom-coded section are not the same afternoon. You get the price before I start, and small things are genuinely small.

Do you work on Squarespace 7.0 and 7.1?

Both. They behave differently, particularly around sections and custom code, so it is worth telling me which one you are on. If you are not sure, I can work it out from the link.

Who can help with Squarespace in Nottingham?

That would be me. I work with businesses across Nottinghamshire, Leicester, Loughborough, Melton Mowbray and Derby, and with plenty of people I have never met.

Start with the free check.

Free, two minutes to request, and genuinely useful even if you never hire me.
